Glogster.com

In my 8th grade health initiative class, my students are designing a digital poster.  The topic of discussion is our Life Skill Unit which shares information on anger management, assertiveness, drug prevention, peer pressure, social skill, media influence, and anxiety.  Students were assigned a chapter to share with the class.  The students  reviewed the material and then created a digital poster.  The program used is called Glogster. To access this site go to Glogster.com.  The use of this computer program costs $30.00 a year.  Glogster allows the students to create a poster where they can upload images, texts, sound, music, pictures, and videos.  I love this type of program because it allows my students to be more creative.  The students enjoy opportunities where they can express themselves in a new way.  For example of a digital poster click on this link http://so84hjk.edu.glogster.com/glog/

  1. That is a really cool idea. I enjoyed listing to them and their ways of saying no. Do you grade for grammar? I think it is much more motivating than just getting up and reading their poster to the class. It would be great to have a competition to see whose is the most colorful, has the most details, who uses the best research.

  2. This a really neat idea for an application. The example glog you provided is really well done and I think it looks really impressive. The interactive format for the glog is not only exciting for the students who are creating the project, but also engaging for students that are viewing the projects.

  3. I do not grade for grammar. It is a non-graded class. Students must be self-motivated. I do encourage my students to work on their writing. My main goal is to get those creative juices flowing and introduce technology to my students as they learn Nutrition and Life Skills.
    Thank you for your input:)

  4. This is a great way to utilize technology in a meaningful, engaging, and creative way! I remember having to create posters for presentations in class and loving the creativity associated with expressing my main points in a visual format. This brings the poster to a whole new level!! I can imagine that many of your students LOVED this project.
