Door Scene

This past week my Digital Media Production and Storytelling class had to do a door scene in groups of three with very specific guidelines that included no video editing, only one Actor or Actress, be within five feet of a door, display a stressful/worrying feeling followed by a sense of calmness/peace.

I really enjoyed this activity, it allowed for creativity and imagination within our group.  Our group decided to do a car scene where one of our members being distressed going to her car due to hearing foot steps approaching as she was entering her car.  After the fact, we felt there were some adjustments needed to make it more realistic; however, I thought our project was pretty good because we stayed within the parameters.

  1. I know that I enjoyed it a lot. It was fun to work with you both and I can't wait to see what you come up with for tonight. It is always to refreshing to see how many ways people interpreted the guidelines. It is good to have a mix of people to make one thing into a multitude.

  2. I really liked the idea of your project! It didn’t even occur to me to leave the building, so kudos to your group for thinking outside of the box and using a car scene! I agree that our projects will all improve with the adjustments we’ll make after storyboarding, but that first take was like a rough draft. It was great to just get out there, experiment with the iPad and video apps, and give it a try!

  3. Your group was reflective and flexible when you discovered how the light appeared on the screen. Way to adapt and improve for the second round. Slight tips and tricks such as these are helpful but come with time and experienced.

  4. I really liked how your group interpreted the project in your own way and set the scene at a car. It was a tough task to try and film in the dark, but your group utilized what you had with you. Good work!
